Highway- Movie Review

Highway: Imtiaz Ali's classic movie.

Highway is really wonderful movie, which makes you to dance, to cry, to sing, along with its characters. Imtiaz is once again at his best. A fantastic movie ,which leaves you speechless at end.Veera(Alia Bhatt) is a Delhi girl, daughter of a famous and rich businessman Mr. Tripathi. Like all heroines of Imtiaz,Veera is also a girl with simple desires and she is full of life. She is not a typical Delhi girl. She wishes to run away from city life and mingle in nature. She is getting married to a NY based  high society guy. Preparations are going on for her marriage. Veera is tired of all these showoff stuff. One night she forces her fiancee to take her on long drive. Both of them go for a drive, though he is constantly disapproving her this,  idiotic desire as the highway is not a safe place to drive in late night. They stop at one patrol pump where she comes out to enjoy fresh air, suddenly local goons who came to rob Patrol pump ,kidnaps her. Here comes hero of the story Mahabir Bhati(Ranbeer Hooda), at the begining, he seems negative character, but later on our dear Veera falls in love with him. Yes, you may be amazed dear reader, though she has been kidnapped , she enjoys this period. She comes face to face with nature and life style, which she craved to live. Movie goes forward with Veera's revelation to Mahabir that she was exploited physically by her own uncle, and when she informed her mother about it, her mother asked her to keep silence, and this exploitation continued. This revelation shows the darker side of high society, where parents themselves allow exploitation of their child for their own benefits. Veera doesn't wish to return to her family as she feels more happy and more secured with Mahabir rather than her parents. Our heart also prays that all go well and Veera spend rest of her life with Mahabir. Mahabir frees Veera, but she refuses and forces Mahabir that she would live with him. At end story is drastically changed, as you all know, climax can't be revealed now, you'll have to watch movie for it. Really, Highway is fantastic movie. It seems that Veera's character is inspired from Jab We Met's Geet. Veera reminds of Geet, like Geet she also enjoys foolish tasks which gives her immense pleasure, she also keeps speaking continuously. Like Geet, Veera also breaks ice around Mahabir and makes him lively. Character of Mahabir also presents story of downtrodden people, and how poor people's women are misused by rich people. His craving for mother's love is satisfied in Veera.
Imtiaz has really made a heart touching movie, like his previous movies.
